Germany’s biodiesel quality management association, AGQM, and the mineral oil and fuel standardization committee (FAM) have launched this year’s round robin tests for biodiesel, vegetable oil and used cooking oil. The two organizations have been conducting their international round robin tests on the analytical methods for biodiesel and vegetable oils for more than a decade. Last year, the groups modified and extended the tests to include used cooking oil.
AGQM says the round robin tests now include one sample of biodiesel from used cooking oil, tested using analytical methods from EN 14214, and a raw used cooking oil sample next to a virgin vegetable oil sample tested using analytical methods from DIN 51623. The requested methods can be used to check vegetable oils as fuel and as feedstock for biodiesel production.
These round robin tests are employed as a tool for laboratories to control and improve their own measuring competence and to identify handling, device or systematic errors. Participation in the round robin test can be used for accreditation of the laboratory, according to AGQM.
Registration for the round robin test is open until April 12 here. More information is available on AGQM’s website or by email.
