USDA: Biodiesel exports at 16,880 metric tons in November, imports at 76,520 metric tons

The U.S. exported 16,879.6 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in November, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Jan. 7. Biodiesel imports were at 76,519.5 metric tons for the month. 

The 16,879.6 metric tons of biodiesel exported in November was down when compared to both the 18,718 metric tons exported the previous month and the 50,941 metric tons exported in November 2023. 

The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately five countries in November. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 10,446.9 metric tons, followed by Peru eat 5,819.1 metric tons and Germany at 593.8 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel exports fell to $17.35 million in November, down from $18.11 million in October and $91.13 million in November 2023. 

Total biodiesel exports for the first 11 months of the year reached 566,020.9 metric tons at a value of $778.62 million, compared to 814,347 metric tons exported during the same period of 2023 at a value of $1.43 billion. 

The 76,519.5 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater imported in November was up when compared to the 70,228.9 metric tons imported in October, but down from the 155,549.1 metric tons imported in November 2023.

The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately five countries in November. Canada was the top source of U.S. biodiesel imports at 40,433.7 metric tons, followed by Germany at 18,331.3 metric tons and Spain at 17,612.1 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel imports reached $91.44 million in November, up from $86.27 million in October, but down from $228.02 million in November of the previous year. 

Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first 11 months of 2024 reached 1.3 million metric tons at a value of $1.76 billion, compared to 1.54 million metric tons imported during the same period of 2023 at a value of $2.56 billion.
