The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service released September export data on Nov. 5 reporting the U.S. exported 100.31 million gallons of ethanol and 1.05 million tons of distillers grains during the month.
The 100.31 million gallons of ethanol exported in September was up slightly when compared to the 98.56 million gallons exported in September 2018, but down from the 122.52 million gallons exported in August.
The U.S. exported ethanol to approximately 30 countries in September. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports during the month with 32.38 million gallons, followed by Brazil with 17.78 million gallons and South Korea with 8.89 million gallons.

The value of U.S ethanol exports reached $152.22 million, down from $202.3 million in August and $161.19 million in September 2018.
Total U.S. ethanol exports for the first nine months of 2019 reached 1.1 billion gallons at a value of $1.77 billion, compared to 1.25 billion gallons at a value of $2.01 billion reported for the same period of 2018.
The U.S. also exported 1.05 million tons of distillers grains in September, down from 1.12 million tons in August, but up from 1.03 million tons in September 2018.

The U.S. exported distillers grains to more than three dozen countries in September. Mexico was the top destination with 136,886 tons, followed by Vietnam with 125,257 tons and Turkey with 94,981 tons.
The total value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $213.13 million in September, down from $230.79 million in August and $220.97 million in September 2018.
Total U.S. distillers grains exports for the first nine months of 2019 reached 8.35 million tons at a value of $1.74 billion, compared to 8.9 million tons at a value of $1.85 billion during the same period of last year.

The European Commission on July 18 announced its investigation into biodiesel imports from China is now complete and did not confirm the existence of fraud. The commission will take action, however, to address some systemic weaknesses it identified.
The U.S. exported 31,160.5 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater in May, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on July 3. Biodiesel imports were 2,226.2 metric tons for the month.
CARB on June 27 announced amendments to the state’s LCFS regulations will take effect beginning on July 1. The amended regulations were approved by the agency in November 2024, but implementation was delayed due to regulatory clarity issues.
Legislation introduced in the California Senate on June 23 aims to cap the price of Low Carbon Fuel Standard credits as part of a larger effort to overhaul the state’s fuel regulations and mitigate rising gas prices.
The government of Brazil on June 25 announced it will increase the mandatory blend of ethanol in gasoline from 27% to 30% and the mandatory blend of biodiesel in diesel from 14% to 15%, effective Aug. 1.
