On April 23, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and CEO Paul Schubert of Strategic Biofuels LLC announced that the company's wholly owned subsidiary, Louisiana Green Fuels, plans to develop a 32 MMgy renewable diesel plant.
Both chambers of the Washington State Legislature on April 25 voted to approve a bill that will create a state-wide Clean Fuel Standard. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee tweeted a statement in approval later that day and is expected to sign the bill soon.
SoCalGas to convert 200 new field service trucks to run on RNG

Southern California Gas Co. has announced it will convert 200 new Ford F-250 service pickup trucks to run on renewable natural gas (RNG)—a renewable form of energy produced from a variety of waste streams.
The U.S. EPA has released data showing that more than 1.64 billion renewable identification numbers (RIN) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in March, up from 1.58 billion during the same month of last year.

Fortistar LLC has announced that two of its portfolio companies, Fortistar Methane Group, a landfill gas-to-energy and RNG developer, and TruStar Energy, and RNG fuel supplier, are merging under Opal Fuels LLC.
The Growing Climate Solutions Act was re-introduced on April 20. The bill aims to break down barriers for farmers and foresters interested in participating in carbon markets so they can be rewarded for climate-smart practices.
Reps. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, and Martin Heinrich, D-N.M, on April 22 introduced the Agricultural Resilience Act. The bill, in part, would make changes to the USDA's REAP program and move the U.S. EPA's AgSTAR program to the USDA.
Valero Energy released first quarter results on April 22, reporting improved results for its ethanol operations and record operating income for its renewable diesel segment. The company also discussed plans for a CCS project at its ethanol plants.
President Biden marked Earth Day on April 22 by announcing a new target for the U.S. to achieve a 50-52 percent reduction in economy-wide net greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution by 2030 when compared to a 2005 baseline.
