REG announces $31M upgrade to Danville, Illinois, biodiesel plant

Renewable Energy Group Inc. announced it will invest $31 million to upgrade and enhance the company's 45 MMgy biodiesel plant in Danville, Illinois. The upgrades will include distillation, pretreatment capacity improvements and other optimizations.

Iowa biodiesel production was 227 million gallons in 2014, down slightly from the 2013 record of 230 million gallons. Iowa's biodiesel production is expected to account for roughly 16 percent of total U.S. production for 2014.
