On April 23, the Advanced Biofuels Association (ABFA) met with officials in the U.S. EPA to convey the vital importance of domestic biofuel production to the Trump-Vance administration’s energy dominance policy agenda. Following a recent report produced by Lipow Oil Associates, which indicated in 2024 U.S. producers made nearly 4.9 billion gallons of advanced biofuels and will have capacity in 2025 to make up to 7.2 billion gallons, ABFA urged EPA to reflect the strength of America’s domestic biofuel production capacity by increasing its 2026 Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) to 5.75 billion gallons.

“Our industry wholeheartedly supports the Trump-Vance administration’s efforts to unleash the United States’ energy production potential,” said ABFA President Michael McAdams. “To achieve the White House’s ambitions, it is essential that we adopt an all-of-the-above strategy that leverages the growing strength of our domestic biofuel production sector. As the U.S. EPA considers its approach to 2026 RVOs and beyond, we urge its leaders to succeed where their predecessors failed by recognizing our industry’s proven contributions to the American economy and energy portfolio. Raising the RVO to 5.75 billion gallons will give certainty and support to our farmers and producers.”
