The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for June, reporting that more than 1.56 billion RINs were generated during the month, including more than 12.41 million cellulosic RINs.

According to the EPA, 12.41 million D3 cellulosic RINs were generated in June, bringing the net total for the first half of the year to 49.31 million. Since the beginning of the year, 971,527 D3 RINs have been generated for ethanol, with nearly 27.15 million generated for renewable compressed natural gas and more than 21.31 million generated for renewable liquefied natural gas. The majority, 46.09 million, D3 RINs have been generated by domestic producers, with 3.34 million generated by importers.

No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in June. During the first six months of the year, a net total of 156,358 D7 RINs were generated, all in May by importers.

Nearly 4.79 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in June, bringing the net total for the first six months of the year to 39.6 million. During the first half of the year, 22.77 million D5 RINs were generated for ethanol, with 11.9 million generated for naptha, 357,888 generated for heating oil, 4.59 million for nonester renewable diesel, and 1,686 for renewable compressed natural gas. Approximately 28.92 million D5 RINs were generated by domestic producers, with 10.7 million generated by importers.

More than 1.27 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in June, bringing the net total for the first half of the year to 7.26 billion. The vast majority, 7.06 billion, were generated for ethanol, with 28.96 million generated for biodiesel, and 163.15 million for nonester renewable diesel. Nearly 7.06 billion D6 RINs were generated by domestic producers, with 40.44 million generated by importers and 163.15 million generated by foreign entities.

EPA data also shows 270.56 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in June, bringing the net total for the first half of the year to nearly 1.23 billion. More than 952.54 million D6 RINs were generated for biodiesel, with 274.11 million generated for nonester renewable diesel. Nearly 1.01 billion D4 RINs were generated domestically, with 97.98 million generated by importers and 120.92 million generated by foreign entities.

Data published by the EPA indicates nearly 8.58 billion RINs were generated during the first half of the year, with 312.16 million retired, 274.37 million locked and available, and 7.99 billion unlocked and available.
