Brad Wilson of Western Iowa Energy, a 45 MMgy biodiesel production facility in Wall Lake, has been elected as the new chair of the Iowa Biodiesel Board. Wilson has been president and general manager of WIE since 2016. WIE also owns Agron Bioenergy, a 15 MMgy plant in Watsonville, California.
“Iowa is not only the top biodiesel producing state, but a strong leader in driving critical federal policy like the Renewable Fuel Standard and biodiesel tax credit,” Wilson said. “I look forward to stepping up to the challenge this position brings and playing an active role in leading the Iowa Biodiesel Board for many reasons.” The most important reason, Wilson said, is the IBB’s focus on bringing additional value up and down the entire supply chain—from the farmers and feedstock suppliers through the end user.
Wilson previously served IBB as vice chair and replaces outgoing chair Tom Brooks, general manager of Western Dubuque Biodiesel in Farley, Iowa, who stepped down after three years as chair.
In addition to Wilson at the head, the officer lineup for IBB includes Renewable Energy Group’s Doug Lenhart as vice chair; Bayer’s Reed Herzig as secretary; and AGP’s Courtney Lawrenson as treasurer.
