UK, Dutch authorities investigate biodiesel trading at Greenergy

The U.K.’s Serious Fraud Office confirmed May 16 that it has opened a joint investigation with Dutch authorities regarding certain aspects of biodiesel trading at Greenergy and various third parties.
Five sites across the U.K. and additional sites in the Netherlands and Belgium were searched April 30, according to the SFO, and four individuals have been arrested and released without charge.
On its website, Greenergy stated, “On April 30, Greenergy became aware of an ongoing investigation into aspects of its biodiesel trading business and various third parties as part of a coordinated operation involving the U.K. and Dutch authorities. The company takes these matters very seriously and is engaging and cooperating fully with the authorities.”
Since this is an ongoing investigation, neither the SFO nor Greenergy could provide further details or comments.

The International Air Transport Association has launched the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Registry with its release to the Civil Aviation Decarbonization Organization. The registry is now live and under CADO management.
Varo Energy, a European energy company based in Switzerland, on March 31 announced an agreement to acquire Preem, a Sweden-based petroleum and biofuels company that is developing additional renewable diesel and SAF capacity.
