U.S. exports of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater fell to 7,849.6 metric tons in February, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on April 3. Biodiesel imports were at 21,964.9 metric tons for the month.
The 7,849.6 metric tons of biodiesel exported in February was down when compared to both the 27,421.8 metric tons exported the previous month and the 30,040.8 metric tons exported in February 2024.
The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately six countries in February. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 4,592.9 metric tons, followed by Peru at 3,065.3 metric tons and Germany at 143.4 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel exports fell to $7.85 million in February, down from $45.07 million in January and $42.51 million in February of last year.

Total biodiesel exports for the first two months of the year reached 35,271.4 metric tons at a value of $52.92 million, compared to 47,258 metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $66.96 million.
The 21,964.9 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater imported in February was up when compared to the 9,922.4 metric tons imported in January, but down from the 180,488 metric tons imported in February 2024.
The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately six countries in February. Canada was the top source of U.S. biodiesel imports at 21,803.8 metric tons, followed by France at 78.4 metric tons and Belgium-Luxembourg at 76.5 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel imports was at $17.49 million in February, up from $10.44 million the previous month, but down from $245.29 million in February of the previous year.
Total biodiesel imports for the first two months of 2025 reached 31,887.4 metric tons at a value of $27.93 million, compared to 348,201.7 metric tons exported during the same period of 2024 at a value of $489.19 million.

A small but increasing amount of biodiesel in the United States is consumed in the residential, commercial, and electric power sectors, according to new estimates now published in the U.S. EIA’s State Energy Data System.
IAG and Microsoft are extending their 2023 co-funded purchase agreement for SAF by five years. The SAF used under the agreement will be produced by Phillips 66’s Humberside refinery and LanzaJet’s facility in the U.S.
Neste and DB Schenker, a logistics service provider, have collaborated to work towards expanding DB Schenker’s adoption of Neste MY Renewable Diesel in Asia-Pacific. DB Schenker trialed the fuel from December 2024 to February 2025 in Singapore.
The International Air Transport Association has launched the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Registry with its release to the Civil Aviation Decarbonization Organization. The registry is now live and under CADO management.
Varo Energy, a European energy company based in Switzerland, on March 31 announced an agreement to acquire Preem, a Sweden-based petroleum and biofuels company that is developing additional renewable diesel and SAF capacity.
