The U.S. exported 81,957.1 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater in August, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Oct. 8. Biodiesel imports were at 80,543.6 metric tons for the month.
The 81,957.1 metric tons of biodiesel exported in August was down when compared to the 88,432.8 metric tons exported in July, but up when compared to the 77,877.3 metric tons exported in August of last year.
The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately eight countries in August. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 74,825.4 metric tons, followed by Peru at 6,700.1 metric tons and Germany at 197.5 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel exports fell to $110.81 million in August, down from both $130.19 million the previous month and $138.54 million in August 2023.

Total U.S. biodiesel exports for the first eight months of this year reached 462,447.9 metric tons at a value of $642.21 million, compared to 642.15 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.12 billion.
The 80,543.6 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater imported in August was down when compared to both the 86,483 metric tons imported the previous month and the 132,236.7 metric tons imported during August 2023.
The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately seven countries in August. Canada was the main supplier of U.S. biodiesel imports at 29,287.7 metric tons followed by Spain at 27,580.3 metric tons and Germany at 19,998.2 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel imports was at $104.75 million in August, down from both $120.32 million in July and $211.55 million in August of last year.
Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first eight months of 2024 reached 1.07 million metric tons at a value of $1.46 billion, compared to 1.03 million metric tons imported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.78 billion.

CARB on Feb. 18 announced that amendments to its LCFS program that were approved in November 2024 have been put on hold following the California Office of Administrative Law’s decision to disapprove the amendments due to clarity issues.
Renewable diesel is increasingly replacing petroleum diesel on the U.S. West Coast, where state-level policies are attracting new production capacity and shipments to the region. The fuel continues to mostly be consumed in California.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration on Feb. 12 announced it would postpone a meeting of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee that was scheduled to take place that day.
The U.S. exported 19,303.6 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in December, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Feb. 5. Biodiesel imports were at 97,4200.7 metric tons for the month.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration has announced the Renewable Energy and Energy Advisory Committee will hold a meeting Feb. 12 in Washington, D.C. The event will also be streamed online.
