Global diesel engine sales are forecast to rise 7.7 percent per year through 2017 to $248.5 billion, representing a marked acceleration from the 2007-'12 pace, according to "World Diesel Engines," a report published this month by The Freedonia Group.
This month, the mayor of New Zealand's capital city of Wellington, Celia Wade-Brown, welcomed an announcement by Z Energy of the company's plans to invest $21 million in a 20 MMly (5.3 MMgy) biodiesel production facility using tallow as feedstock.

The global biofuels industry is now on the verge of entering a new phase of development. According to a new report, global demand for biofuels for road transportation will grow from 32.4 billion gallons in 2013 to 51.1 billion by 2022.
The Aemetis plant is the only distilled biodiesel producer in India, according to the company, and is one of the only plants in Asia capable of producing large supplies of biodiesel that meet the rigorous European Union (ISCC) standards.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. has signed an agreement to purchase a facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, from Felda Iffco Sdn Bhd, Malaysia. The plant currently produces several products including biodiesel and glycerin. The deal is expected to close in April.

LEC has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding and issued ordinary shares of Territory Biofuels Ltd. and thereby increase its ownership from 55 to 100 percent. TBF owns the largest biodiesel plant in Australia, scaled at approximately 37 MMgy.
CEO Wayne Lee said the experts represent the top talent in their respective fields, and bring the group's total to 40 professionals. The new additions are Barry Stevens, William Quapp, Atul Deshmane, Stuart Buckingham, Mindy Collier and Chad Smith.
